• Eisie Awards - The Alfred Eisenstaedt Awards for Magazine Photography: administered by the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University, under a grant from LIFE magazine, in recognition of excellence in American magazine photography and to honor the memory and spirit of Alfred Eisenstaedt, a pioneer of photojournalism.
• International Sport Photos Competition - Sport photos of the year is an international photo competition jointly organized by L'Équipe newspaper and the Olympic Museum Lausanne, open to professional photographers covering national or international sport events.
• John Kobal Photographic Portrait Award - Showcase for new talent in portrait photography organised by the National Portrait Gallery.
• Lange-Taylor Prize - A $10,000 award from the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, promoting the collaboration between a writer and a photographer in a documentary project. All subjects welcome.
• Lucie Awards - The photography community from countries around the world, gathering with luminaries from the international photography community to laud the year's most outstanding achievements.
• NPPA Best of... - National Press Photographer's Association (USA) annual awards, featuring categories from sports to features, started in 2002.
• Observer Hodge Award - British award for photographers under 30.
• Picture Editors Awards - The Picture Editors' Awards recognise and reward the best of photographic journalism throughout Britain and Ireland. Showcases winners, special awards and (from 2006) all entries received.
• POY: The Pictures of the Year - POY is one of the oldest, largest and most highly respected photojournalism contests in the world.
• Visions of Science Photographic Competition - Includes the aims of the competition, categories (which change each year), rules and on-line entry form, together with the previous year's winners.
